What we do

At Lisa's Little Adventurers we aim to provide children with a range of opportunities to challenge their physical, creative and mental abilities. The children’s learning and development are identified within the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS). The experiences that our children have enables them to develop a number of skills and concepts across the seven areas of learning.

We have a play area at our setting that supports the EYFS included in our indoor and outdoor play space and encourage the children to explore both environments during their sessions in a ‘free flow’ manner.

We provide a balance of adult-led and child-initiated play within all our sessions and enjoy working around the children’s current interests and fascinations. We encourage the children to fully involve themselves in their play and to explore the sensory aspect of all their activities. We get loud and we get messy but we always have fun!

We pride ourselves on the relationships we build with our children and their families and always do our best to accommodate the change in childcare needs.  We are willing to work with families who may require earlier arrivals or later collections than we offer day to day.  Please note these must be agreed in advance.

Evenings & Weekends

We understand that from time to time special circumstances can arise where you may require us to adjust any hours or your days that your child is contracted to attend to accommodate a meeting or appointment etc. Please do not hesitate to contact us and we can do our very best to assist you wherever possible.

We normally take five holiday weeks per year. A copy of our yearly holiday forecast will be provided to you so that you can make any necessary cover arrangements well in advance.

There will be no charge on any of my holiday dates/ on days that we are unable to open.

If you are planning a holiday and do not require us to care for your child, please try to give a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice. Your usual weekly fee will be charged for your child’s normal contracted hours. If we are on holiday at the same time, no fee is charged.

Meals, Snacks & Healthy Eating

As part of our service, we offer families the choice to either bring packed lunch or supply food for your child, or we can provide the following meals and snacks, some are included at a small additional cost as a contribution:

Mid-Morning Snack (Free)

Mid-Afternoon Snack (Free)

For drinks children are offered water throughout the day, full fat milk at mid-morning snack time and again later on in the day. Fresh juice and smoothies are offered at breakfast, lunch and dinner time and on those cold days the children are offered hot chocolate.

We actively promote healthy eating here at our setting and are a nut free zone. We encourage the children to choose from a daily selection of healthy options. We follow the advice provided from the Nutritional Guidance for Early Years (food choices for children aged 1 to 5 years in early education and childcare settings). I am happy to discuss menus and cater for children with food allergies and cultural/religious requirements. Again, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We can also cook/serve food provided by parents and will support you if you are weaning your baby. I have multiple blenders and can therefore make pureed dishes if required.

If you are celebrating a special occasion such as your childs birthday, you are very welcome to bring treats or cake for example to the setting to share with the other children. However I must ask that you also bring the original packaging detailing the allergen information and ingredients. If the treats are home baked then we will ensure each child gets to take the cake or treat home with them at the end of the day, so we can just make parents aware it is home baked in case their child does suffer from an intolerance or allergy that we may not be aware of.

A weekly menu will be provided and a copy displayed on our noticeboard. If you have any comments or suggestions on ways we can improve on this or if you have any concerns please do let us know, as the best way of us working together is by collaboration for your child's best interest.

Please see my Healthy Eating Policy for further information about food provision in my setting.

Menus get updated on a termly basis. All new menus can be available for download on our news and resources page.

Uniform / Clothing

We cannot stress enough that we are not a ‘best clothes’ setting and we do ask that send your child to their sessions ready and able to get stuck in without feeling any restrictions e.g. being worried about wearing new ‘good’ shoes. Providing your child with extra clothing for their session is always advisable.
